New Thinking from the North
Collaboration, Invention and Growth
New Thinking from the North is a pilot study aimed at identifying ways in which academics, practitioners in the arts and humanities and local authorities can work in partnership to stimulate invention and influence economic growth across the North of England.
This study which is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and conducted through the N8 Research Partnership – the eight most research-intensive universities in the North of England (Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and York) – is led by Professor Dinah Birch, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University of Liverpool.
As an initial phase of this project the N8 universities have organised a series of themed workshops addressing – Heritage, Digital, Sustainability and Imagination - through which they can together, listen to current and historical models of community innovation, identify new research challenges, and explore areas of future development.
